Houston Neuro and Aphasia

We provide patient centered speech therapy for all stages of recovery. We know each person is unique and has different goals. We strive to provide the most individualized speech therapy treatment for brain injury recover and/or degenerative diseases.

Jackie Freer M.A CCC-SLP, CBIS

Jackie began working with people with acquired and degenerative speech and language disorders over 13 years ago. She has a passion for helping patients and their families in the most challenging times by guiding and providing assistance, tailored by their specific wants and needs.


Jackie has worked in inpatient and outpatient brain injury rehab settings. She has worked with people with speech and language disorders, cognitive disorders, dysphagia and patients with voice disorders. Jackie has also worked with people with Parkinson’s disease in an outpatient rehab setting. Jackie has trained graduate externs, guest lectured at graduate level courses and spent time training colleagues on research-based therapy strategies in the neurogenic population.


In addition to traditional therapy setting, Jackie has spent the last 10 years working at the Houston Aphasia Recovery Center (HARC). At HARC, she worked as both a speech language pathologist, evaluating and guiding patients and their families through their recovery and as HARC’s program director, where she oversaw and created programs which best fit the needs of the HARC participants.


Jackie also takes great interest in assisting participants and caregivers navigate the journey through Primary Progressive Aphasia (PPA) and Primary Progressive Apraxia. Jackie has immense experience with evaluating, diagnosing and finding the appropriate treatment plan for each person with PPA. Jackie was featured on KPRC, Channel 2, where she discussed PPA and it’s progression.
